Making the "Dream Work"
DreamWorksAnimation has released a total of 23 films over a span of 13 years. The company has stated that they wish to release a total of five films every two years. Each of these films will be released in 3D. DreamWorks Animation splits up the development process of their films into 12 sub-catagories that take place during the Development, Pre-production, Production, and Post-production phases of a film. Each film starts out with an idea which is then fleshed out into a treatment that leads into the screenplay. After the treatment is finished, The team begin to storyboard the film this helps the animators get a visual reference of how a scene should look in the final product. Character models are then created and voice actors are hired to give the character life and personality. After that is completed the animators then start to animate the film into what viewers will see on the screen. Finally the film is scored by a composer (DreamWorks Animation tends to favor Hans Zimmer and Jon Powell) and sounds are compiled together. This process can take form three to 4 years from the idea to the big screen.
